Visual code
seriously technical explainer videos
Alan Turing’s portrait is due to feature on the £50 note in 2021, and not a year too soon. Turing died in 1954 so he and I were contemporaries for only six months. His revolutionary conception of the Universal Turing Machine changed my life and pretty much the life of everyone else on the planet.
I use a computer every day and mostly take it for granted, but how software code works with hardware tech I find really fascinating.
VisualSilicon is a young company with big ideas about how code could be written in the future – the product is called SourceCreator (I designed the logo). They were good enough to ask me to make some videos to visualise those ideas. It’s still early days, there’s a long way to go and much for me to learn. I hope they succeed and we can carry on with further videos in this series.
