Flashcards, lots of them

for English language teachers

Ever since the illustrated dictionary my auntie gave me for my 10th birthday, I’d always wanted to do something like this. A commission for an extensive series of drawings of specific things.

I did them in three batches, and there are about 400 hundred in total, roughly A4 size when printed. Each has a little number in the corner, which pleases me.

The pay was a bit crap, I got a small amount per flashcard, but because there were so many it added up in the end. It wasn’t about the money. I enjoyed the process of depicting something as literally as possible. The aim was to stimulate an unambiguous noun in the viewers mind.
